Master painting techniques and gain the confidence to create beautiful work… even if you’ve faced frustration, a lack of confidence or can’t attend in-person classes!
My teaching approach was developed because I believe the 'I'll tell you what you're doing wrong' method isn't the most effective or beneficial for most people. If you've ever taken an in-person class, you know exactly what I mean.
Instead, I focus on process, methods, techniques, and principles—emphasizing the fundamentals to give you a solid foundation for expressing your own creativity. That’s what I aim for you to experience as a member of my online art school.

Never come across such practical information
"I have been studying art as a hobby for the past twenty years, now retired I am in my third year of a painting course with the "Open College of Art" (Part of the "Open University"). During that time I have never come across such practical information… Thanks for opening another door for me."

Like a treasure
"What a treasure trove!! My library has several hundred art books and your information seems to be what I have been looking for. Thanks again."

Wrote his first testimonial
"I am amazed!! I am 58 years old and have never written a testimonial, until now. I have dabbled in art for about 40+ years and have collected many volumes on how to oil paint. 90% are of the "how to" variety. I have become increasingly dissatisfied with the directions that I am getting and thus becoming very suspicious....your information - I was enthralled!! For the first time someone was telling me WHY, not giving me their opinion! I am going to have a huge yard sale this spring and get rid of several thousand dollars of "useless" art books! Thank you and keep up the terrific work. You will never know how many questions you answered for me."

faq
Materials play an important role in your painting. I have sections devoted to learning about your supplies and materials, covering paint, painting surfaces, mediums, brushes, and more. If you already have some paints and other supplies, you’ll start with those. If something shouldn't be used because it’s low quality and actually making it harder for you to paint well, I’ll cover that too.
So to sum it up—if you have some supplies, great! You can start with those. But I’ll also go over the minimum materials you should need because I know oil painting supplies can be expensive, and I don’t want you wasting money on things you don’t need.
Absolutely! In fact, beginners often have an advantage because they haven’t built up any bad habits or preconceived ideas yet. Most people who take my classes are beginners, so you’ll be in good company.
Besides, there’s no strict definition of what makes someone a beginner—it’s all subjective. My instruction is designed to be easy to understand, with a strong emphasis on fundamentals. I also make a point to avoid confusing jargon, so you can focus on learning and improving without feeling overwhelmed.
Since this learning platform is brand new at this time, I’m still figuring out exactly how feedback will work. However, I will be active in the Facebook group, so that’s a great place to ask questions and also engage with other students.
That said, I don’t teach in the typical way of you just painting something and then “looking at your work and telling you what you’re doing wrong.” Instead, I focus on teaching principles, procedures, and methods that you can apply to your own paintings. While I hope the lessons are entertaining and fun, my main goal is for you to walk away having learned something practical—something you can use in your very next painting. In my experience, just critiquing your paintings never was a very effective teaching method. I know that always excited me the most - having an Ah-Ha moment when I knew I learned something new. A new technique or a new procedure I could apply right away to my very next painting
